The veteran full-back only signed a new one-year deal at Old Trafford earlier this summer, and even though the Red Devils signed Luke Shaw in a deal that could be worth up to £31 million, the Frenchman was expected to stay on and provide support for the England youngster.
Manchester United exit?
However reports have emerged this morning claiming that Manchester United have lodged a bid for Wolfsburg full-back Ricardo Rodriguez, which immediately cast doubts over Evra's future at Old Trafford.
It seems as though his days in Manchester are numbered, and according to Tuttosport he could complete a £3.5 million transfer by the end of this week now that France have been eliminated from the World Cup.
Signed, sealed...and delivered?
Indeed, it's been suggested that Manchester United only offered Evra a new deal before his previous one expired this summer in order to ensure they received a transfer fee for him - although that remains unfounded speculation.
Evra has been with Manchester United since he joined from Monaco in 2006, has made 379 appearances for the club, and has regularly captained the Red Devils over the past few seasons.
Tuttosport add that neither Manchester United or Evra have given Juventus a definitive answer over the transfer, however the Italian giants are growing increasingly confident of getting their man.
The Red Devils may be reluctant to sanction a deal for the French international having already lost two experienced defenders in Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand this summer. However if they can wrap up a deal for the highly-rated Rodriguez then new boss Louis van Gaal could be willing to let it happen, especially as he can also call upon Phil Jones, Chris Smalling and Jonny Evans to provide some experience.
Along with Evra, Juventus are also hoping to conclude a deal for Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata, who has been linked with both Tottenham and Arsenal.
