According to the Daily Express, Juventus will target Ramires if Chelsea are indeed willing to sell him this summer to raise their own transfer funds. If the Italian giants can get Ramires in, they will be willing to sanction the £40m sale of Vidal to United.
Real Madrid have been strongly linked with a move for the Brazilian international midfielder, but Chelsea turned down their initial approach.
That doesn't bode well for Juventus, and as a result United's hopes of landing Vidal, but the report claims the Turin club will enquire nonetheless.
United talks for Vidal
United officials are reportedly in talks with Juve over Vidal, with the Old Trafford club prepared to throw in Nani and Patrice Evra as part of the £40m deal.
But Juventus will not progress talks without guarantees that they can sign their top targets too. With Paul Pogba also mentioned as a target for Chelsea among others, Juventus are understandably keen to get deals in place for replacements before allowing their top two midfielders to leave.
Chelsea midfield plans
Despite the addition of Cesc Fabregas from Barcelona earlier this summer, Jose Mourinho is still expected to make a move for Pogba, a player he rates highly.
Ramires, who made 30 Premier League appearances last season, remains an important part of Mourinho's plans but reports in London papers this week claim he could be sold along with John Obi Mikel to raise transfer funds.
The Blues have been active already, adding Fabregas and Diego Costa in big-money deals. And while they did recoup a significant percentage with the sale of David Luiz to Paris Saint Germain, they will have to shed more squad members should they want to add further.
