Liverpool look as though they are going to be busy this transfer window as they look to build a squad ready to take on a Champions League campaign, not to mention the reported £75million they are set to get from selling Luis Suarez to Barcelona burning a hole in their pocket.
If reports are to be believed, they have failed in an attempt to lure Alexis Sanchez to become part of the deal, the Camp Nou winger is said to be keen on Arsenal instead, and they have turned to youth in stead. Much of Brendan Rodgers' success last season was based on trusting in the young players to carry out his instructions, while also allowing their individuality to flourish.
Freedom and quality
Improvisation and the fearlessness of youth allowed the likes of Raheem Sterling, Daniel Sturridge, Philippe Coutinho and Joe Allen all contribute towards what was probably the most entertaining brand of football in the Premier League last term.
Most managers would probably plump for proven quality like Sanchez over precocious youth, though at 25 he is not exactly long in the tooth, but Rodgers has good reason to believe he can get the best out of a lesser-known player.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has made a reputation out of doing so, with players such as Aaron Ramsey, Cesc Fabregas, Theo Walcott and Samir Nasri all flourishing in the light of his faith.
World class development
Names mentioned above highlight a precedent in the English top flight for promise to become product when given the right environment to flourish and there have been a raft of diamonds waiting to be 'un-roughed', as it were, being linked with Premier League moves.
GMS have had a little look see and come up with six players we feel can shock Premier League spectators with their quality next season.
