Manchester United have announced initial details of the hand-picked squad that will take part in the club’s pre-season tour of the United States.
After departing on 18 July, United will first face LA Galaxy in what will be new boss Louis Van Gaal’s first game in charge of the Reds, before taking part in the International Champions Cup in which they will be competing against European giants AS Roma, Inter Milan, and finally Real Madrid.
United’s new £60 million duo, Ander Herrera and Luke Shaw, are set to travel with the squad that is expected to include regulars Wayne Rooney, Juan Mata and David De Gea.
Final squad announced 18 July
The final squad will not be announced until Friday 18 July, with decisions to be made regarding the fitness of United’s players who are still competing in the 2014 World Cup.
United’s final clash with Real Madrid is set to upstage any past footballing event held in the US, with a record attendance expected.
