The dream move to the Premier League was not all what it cracked up to be for one Chilean international, as Gary Medel suffered heartbreak as Cardiff City were relegated to the Championship in his debut season.
However, it now seems that the Chilean international will move to Italian giants Inter Milan for around €10 million, according to talkSPORT. It is understood Medel had a relegation clause in his contract at the Cardiff City Stadium and is expected to complete the switch in the coming days.
But where will he play?
As a central midfielder he gives the defence cover and security, with a lack of creativity, but as a central defender, he is a completely different player. In this World Cup Medel has managed to keep some on the top strikers in Europe at bay with incredible discipline and well timed tackles. If I was Walter Mazzarri, manager of the Serie A, side I would really consider playing him in defence at all times.
The 26-year-old had attracted attention from Besitkas, but Inter Milan have beaten the Turkish side to the ex-Sevilla hard man, and it's looking increasingly likely that he'll be plying his trade in the Italian top flight as of this coming season.
