Manchester United are interested in bringing Real Sociedad winger Antoine Griezmann to Old Trafford, with the club likely to miss out on priority target Angel di Maira.
This is according to talkSPORT, who have suggested that Liverpool and Arsenal are also tracking his signature.
Recent reports revealed that the French star is on the lookout for a new club after rejecting a contract offer from Sociedad, putting the Premier League big-boys on alert. And now it appears that new Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal could try and persuade the £25 million rated star to the Theatre of Dreams this summer.
It had previously been indicated that United were in the running for Argentine international Di Maria, but seemingly Griezmann has been identified as an alternative signing by the Red Devils.
New Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal is seemingly determined to rebuild the club ahead of the 2014/15 season, and the addition of Griezmann would only improve his squad as they look to regain their European status.
The winger played a key role for the French at this summer's World Cup, before the national side were eventually dumped out of the competition by finalists Germany. And, if Griezmann was to enter the frame at Old Trafford, then the likes of Ashley Young and Nani would have reason to worry.
The United duo both struggled for form and consistency under the last regime, and it remains to be seen as to whether they are in Van Gaal's plans for the long term.
Liverpool and Arsenal interest
If United are to secure the signing of Griezmann, however, then they may have to battle the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal for his signature. With the Gunners closing in on a move for Barcelona superstar Alexis Sanchez and Liverpool being involved in transfer business of their own, it remains to be seen as to whether they will step up their interest in the 23-year-old anytime soon.
It certainly looks set to be a busy summer for the Premier League big-boys, and Griezmann could yet head to England's elite division in the near future.
