Spanish defender Ignasi Miquel has played down speculation of a return to La Liga this summer, insisting that he 'only has eyes for Arsenal' and is determined to make a first-team breakthrough this season. (Marca)
The 21-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to Espanyol after struggling to make any kind of impact in Arsene Wenger's first-team, since arriving in north London in the youth team set-up in 2008.
Miquel spent the last campaign on loan at newly-promoted Leicester City, and has returned to the Gunners for pre-season in the hope of gaining more regular action.
But, with Per Mertesacker, Laurent Koscielny and Thomas Vermaelen all ahead of him in the central defensive pecking order, the youngster faces a difficult task of breaking into the side.
Miquel admitted that the opportunity to return to the top-flight in Spain is 'a good option', though remains hopeful that he has what it takes to forge a career in the Premier League.
