Manziel should stop taking stupid selfies, says NBA legend

Johnny Manziel is constantly under the spotlight these days. He's bringing it on himself though because of outlandish partying with his affluent friends in places such as Las Vegas.

Wherever he goes, cameras follow. The Cleveland Browns quarterback is the most talked about NFL player right now, and most of the talk is regarding his off the field activities rather than his skills as a player.

At a time when he should be studying his Browns' playbook, Manziel is busy enjoying himself. This prolific partying has seen Johnny Football receiver criticism from all angles, and NBA legend Charles Barkley was the latest to say his piece this week.

Barkley argues that Johnny Manziel is not mature enough to handle NFL fame, and right now you could hardly argue with the former Phoenix Suns star. "You should never take selfies of yourself doing anything that can be considered stupid," Barkley explained this week.

"And that's probably the only problem I have with Johnny Manziel. Most of his pictures are selfies, and that tells me he's just too immature to handle this fame thing right now."

NFL legend Cris Carter was at the rookie symposium this week advising future stars on what it takes to make it in the NFL. One of the topics was how to deal with the fame that comes with becoming an American Football star.

Essentially, Carter explained in the symposium, "everybody is TMZ." Barkley agreed with this by stating that he doesn't even let friends of his take photos of him. It might be a little over the top, but Barkley believes Johnny Manziel should follow suit.

Avoid situations

Manziel has had to defend himself on numerous occasions this year. First it started with his trip to Las Vegas where he partied with bikini-clad ladies and Rob Gronkowski. Questions arose about whether or not he should actually be studying his Browns' playbook. The former Texas A&M quarterback quipped back on social media, which suggested he was annoyed at the time.

But Barkley feels he can do more to help himself. At the end of the day, Manziel is going through the most important part of his life. He's preparing for the biggest test of his life right now. These next few months could define his NFL career and his life. As such, Barkley insists Manziel should avoid as many situations that could be detrimental to his reputation as possible.

"I think he has to be careful. Johnny has to understand, he's got to watch himself because everybody is out to get you. Every nitwit has a cell phone."
