WWE: Roman Reigns owes all his success to Daniel Bryan

Published 2 Comments

Roman Reigns is enjoying the fruits of a massive push from the WWE at the moment, with his position as main babyface of the company set to be cemented at the upcoming pay-per-views over the course of this summer.

Bryan's pain, Reigns delight

But it all would have been different if not for the poor fortune of one Daniel Bryan.

Bryan was riding the crest of the 'Yes Movement' all the way to the World and WWE Heavyweight Championships before being forced to have surgery on his troublesome neck that looks to have put him out of action for quite some time.

Slow Burner

With the WWE needing a good guy who is actually over with the fans - nobody is looking at you John Cena - the company turned to Roman Reigns to be that guy. But according to The Wrestling Observer, that was never meant to be the case.

From WrestlingNews.com:

"With WWE currently booking Roman Reigns as one of the top guys in a big way, it's said that his ascension to the top likely would have been a slower one if Daniel Bryan was healthy and still WWE World Heavyweight Champion with John Cena as the other top guy."

And the release even included what we have to look forward to with Reigns in the future.

Future Plans

"Coming out of The Shield vs. Evolution feud and the split with The Shield, the idea is that Reigns will work a feud with Orton and maybe a big pay-per-view match with Triple H before moving on."

Are they just re-using the Daniel Bryan storylines now and just re-writing the scripts to take out Bryan's name and replace them with Reigns, because that is really what it looks like right about now.
