LeBron James will make a decision on his NBA future in the coming days, but where he will end up is still open to mass debate. A return home to his first NBA team Cleveland Cavaliers has been widely expected, however, Miami Heat could still persuade LeBron to stay in Florida.
Dan Gilbert kept waiting
At the start of this week, LeBron was said to be on the verge of signing for the Cavaliers. Several reports even suggested that James was going to be announced by Cleveland this week, with Cavs' owner Dan Gilbert set to unveil him.
Those reports seem to have jumped the gun as there has still been no news. LeBron will even travel to the soccer World Cup in Brazil to watch the final on Sunday before a decision is made.
So what's the hold-up? It seems that LeBron might still have some ill-feeling towards Cavs' owner Dan Gilbert for his open letter to LeBron when he originally left Cleveland for Miami back in 2010.
In the letter, Dan Gilbert attacked LeBron and called him a "coward," while he mocked the four-time league MVP's nicknames such as 'King James' and 'The Chosen One.'
Dan Gilbert and Cleveland decided to remove the letter from the Cavs' website this week, but ESPN are reporting that LeBron is likely to still be upset at the open letter, with Chris Broussard explaining his view this week.
"I've been told that one thing that is giving LeBron pause is the letter that Dan Gilbert wrote," Broussard told ESPN TV. "That is factoring into his decision. That letter is giving him pause and making him think about whether he really wants to go back.
"Dan Gilbert never apologized publicly for the things that were said in the letter. I don't know that they have meet face to face since. It makes sense that the letter is holding it up."
LeBron James is still yet to make a decision on his future, and the wait has naturally whipped the majority of NBA fans up into a frenzy. Such is the popularity of LeBron amongst fans who use social media, it was only natural that he was to start trending on Twitter.
And that's exactly what happened yesterday when Twitter exploded with #BeforeLeBronDecides. Due the extended length of time it's taken LeBron to make a decision, users gave their joke answers of crazy things that will happen before LeBron finally makes his mind up.
Even rapper Snoop Dogg got in on the act with this little beauty. "I'll get a ring wit tha Lakers #BeforeLeBronDecides." There's likely to be another hilarious Twitter LeBron trend as well #BeforeLeBronDecides.
