London Welsh have completed the signings of Pablo Henn and Lachlan Mcaffrey this week as they look to add the necessary quality to their squad ahead of their Aviva Premiership return.
Argentinian Henn joins from French outfit Limoges and back-row forward McAffrey – who played for Western Force against the British and Irish Lions last year – has also joined the club.
Welsh were promoted to the top tier of English club rugby after victory in the Championship play-offs last season.
31-year old Henn won his most recent Argentina cap when they faced England back in June 2013 and has a wealth of European rugby experience for Stade Francais, Mountauban and Brive.
Statement of intent
On the signing, head coach Justin Burnell told reporters: “Pablo really impressed against England last summer, he's made over 100 appearances in the Top 14 in France .
“He's just an out-an-out natural scrummager and we've had brilliant feedback on him.
"The set-piece is hugely important in the Premiership and the signing of Pablo is another massive statement by the club.”
The move represents the ambition the club are showing, and on the Mcaffrey addition, he added: "Lachlan caught our attention at the Cub 10s in Singapore when he was part of the Brumbies squad.
"He's EQP and that's very important, but he's also got an excellent and proven pedigree in Super 15 rugby. He's a typical ball-playing Australian forward - he's got a brilliant skill set.”
London Welsh open up their Aviva Premiership campaign with a home clash with Exeter Chiefs on September the 7th.
