Manchester United have already lost two extremely experienced characters from their squad this summer in formerly formidable defensive pairing Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand and now, to the surprise of many, it looks as if yet another of the club's celebrated stalwarts will be departing Old Trafford with Patrice Evra believed to be close to sealing a move to Serie A champions Juventus in a deal that could aid the Red Devils' pursuit of Arturo Vidal.
While the respective departures of former captain Vidic - who now represents Inter Milan - and Ferdinand were expected with the duo having reached the end of their contracts at the club, Evra's proposed exit has come as far more of a shock given that he only agreed to a one-year extension of his own deal back in May.
Family reasons appear to be one of the key factors behind Evra's desire to move to Turin and, with the seasoned French international having proved hugely reliable - not to mention very successful - during his eight-year stint at Manchester United, many will surely not begrudge the chance to start afresh for possibly the final time in his career.

Manchester United's purchase of England starlet Luke Shaw from Southampton has given new manager Louis van Gaal an ideal long-term replacement for Evra, but, even with the talented 18-year-old now in the fold, there is still somewhat of a shortage of cover and competition for that left-back role.
Unsurprisingly, therefore, rumours linking Manchester United with a number of primarily left-sided defenders have escalated since the news of Evra's desire to leave the club first became apparent.
