Tottenham are set to battle with Premier League rivals Liverpool for £18 million hitman Wilfried Bony of Swansea.
The Ivorian impressed in his debut season in England, scoring 25 goals in 48 appearances in all competitions, and Swansea are reluctantly willing to let the £12 million signing from Vitesse leave after just one season.
However, the Swans are thought to be demanding £20 million but that not has not put off interested parties, although only Liverpool and Spurs have expressed a firm interest, according to the Evening Standard.
The paper goes on to say that Bony is open minded on who he joins, even though Liverpool have the advantage of Champions League football next season.
Liverpool need a striker to replace the departed Luis Suarez, although the physical Bony is a distinctly different type of player. Spurs have Emmanuel Adebayor and Roberto Soldado but question marks remain over both players' futures, with doubts over their ability to perform consistently at the highest level.
Swansea will seek to start a bidding war for the player while they seek to make numerous changes to their playing squad with Garry Monk now confirmed in his position as manager on a full time basis.
Another Swansea player, Ben Davies, looked set to depart for White Hart Lane before interest from another club, again though to be Liverpool, delayed that move, and the two clubs could be set to go head to head for another player from Swansea.
