Alexis Sanchez is Arsenal's first marquee signing of the summer, he along with Mesut Ozil represent the new era of splashing the cash at the Emirates Stadium, but is the expensive Chilean the best value for money on this crazy window?
Even by ridiculous football standards, Sanchez's £30 million fee is a questionably large outlay for a player that has never spent a second in the Premier League. Barcelona's coffers - so depleted by Luis Suarez's arrival - have received a timely injection thanks to the deal for the World Cup star that Liverpool were also keen on securing.
For Arsene Wenger's new found confidence to go large in the transfer market, his FA Cup winning squad have acquired a pacy and flairy forward; whom the Frenchman hopes can bring back the Premier League with his goals.
However, is there a chance that Arsenal's illustrious manager is being unnecessarily nudged into making overpriced signings to appease the demanding Gunners fans?
When you look at the other rumours of movers and their fees in the market, together with Wenger's crew - past and present - there are some handy players that could arguably have as big an impact as Sanchez.
Cheaper and better alternatives
Take a look a these stars who could do better than Sanchez for a smaller combined fee than the 25-year-old.
