Former Manchester United goalkeeper Edwin Van Der Sar believes Louis van Gaal will be a success at Old Trafford this season.
Van Gaal - who is set to start work properly at the club upon his return from the World Cup - has already overseen the transfers of Ander Herrera and Luke Shaw, with Arturo Vidal and Mats Hummels also on his radar.
But Van Der Sar feels he doesn't need big name signings to make an impact at United and he said: "Louis van Gaal’s best quality is to create a team and to get a squad playing brilliant football.
"Over the last few weeks, the United fans have witnessed how he guided this young, inexperienced Dutch squad to the semi-finals – a squad which nobody gave a chance to finish in the top eight.
"The spirit in the Dutch camp has never been as good as it is today, with every player working and fighting on the pitch for the others. I don’t think that Louis van Gaal’s ability can ever be questioned."
Attractive playing style
Van Der Sar played under Van Gaal for both Ajax and Holland during his career and believes that the incoming manager to Old Trafford will get his team playing his way - something that is sure to appeal to the United faithful.
"Louis will arrive at Old Trafford with a glowing CV, based on the things he has done in European club football and on this World Cup in Brazil," he said.
“I have been at the World Cup myself and seen how Van Gaal has put Holland back on football world map. Maybe not in the greatest style, but certainly with his results.
“The United fans have seen with their own eyes how he got Holland to play against Spain, the world champions, in the first match. It was a 5-1 thrashing."
He added: "The British media and the United following have every reason to be excited about the work Van Gaal is going to do in the next few years. It could lead to some wonderful seasons at Old Trafford again."
