Recently Arsenal have been linked with a €30 million move for Real Madrid's Sami Khedira but Arsene Wenger has been somewhat discouraged by the German international's wage demand of £158,000 per week.
It does seem there are great defensive minded midfielders out there that will not break the bank and demand these wages.
Premier League rivals Manchester United have also been linked with the 27-year-old and may be persuaded to join the Red Devil's if Arsense Wenger isn't inclined to pay his wage bill.
What Arsenal need is a defensive midfielder that can play their usual fluent, elegant football but can also be incredibly disciplined in either the away games or games against the other top teams in the league.
The job is to find a long-term replacement for 32-year-old Mikel Arteta who has been linked away from the Emirates.
