This past year has seen some big moments in the WWE - all of which will go down in history.
We saw Daniel Bryan capture - and vacate - the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, The Shield imploded, the likes of Batista and Chris Jericho returned, Bray Wyatt continued to impress and we saw Seth Rollins crowned as Mr. Money in the Bank.
All of these moments were great to watch as WWE fans and will be remembered; but it probably isn't going to end there for the year, there are a lot more things the WWE fans have to look forward to for the remainder of the year, let's take a look at what fans could have to look forward to.
This isn't a rumour, this has been confirmed as you can see in the video above, the WWE finally managed to sign Japanese sensation KENTA to a deal. He will begin working in NXT, which some fans aren't pleased about but in reality, it's the best decision possible. One of the biggest reasons Sin Cara flopped was because he didn't hone his skills in NXT, to change his style to suit other wrestlers; I have no doubt KENTA will excel in NXT and on the main roster.
Before people assume he will become a jobber like Yoshi Tatsu, remember CM Punk wasn;t supposed to 'make it', Daniel Bryan wasn't supposed to 'make it'; the WWE has become a lot better in using independent talent that were huge names elsewhere, KENTA in Japan, Dean Ambrose as Jon Moxley, Seth Rollins as Tyler Black, Cesaro as Claudio Castagnoli and Luke Harper as Brodie Lee; they've all succeeded. KENTA will be used well, click here to watch an incredible match between KENTA and Bryan Danielson - now Daniel Bryan in 2006 during their days in Pro Wrestling NOAH.
If you're a big fan of independent wrestling then you'll have heard of Prince Devitt and the fact that he should be signing with the WWE very soon. He is one of the finest in-ring competitors in recent years and always leaves the fans wanting more. He has a great look, his entrances are great and he is famous for the incredible body paint he displays as well. Most importantly, he can work inside the ring and it's almost certain he'll continue to light up the NXT's already-impressive division. He can be a great face and an even better heel and it's only a matter of time before WWE snaps him up.
Another incredible independent talent rumoured to have signed a deal with the WWE – this is another superstar I’d recommend you watch before he debuts because he is that good. Again, it’s no surprise that he will begin in NXT but I doubt he’ll have any difficulty moving up to the main roster because he is one of the best wrestlers on the planet.
The biggest Kevin Steen and Ring of Honor fans will persuade you that Kevin Steen is fantastic, and could take over a CM Punk role one day, because he isn’t someone who keeps his mouth shut either. He has had a fantastic rivalry with El Generico – who we know today as Sami Zayn and much like Devitt; he too can place a heel or face to perfection, definitely someone to look forward to.
I think I have sold NXT many times on this website; but I still can’t emphasise how good this brand is, sometimes it matches Monday Night Raw and other times it beats it. As I have said before, the future of the WWE is competing on NXT right now and you don’t even know it. Ten years from now you’ll be cheering for your new WWE Champion and right now he is competing in NXT.
The same fans cheering for Dean Ambrose, Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins probably had no clue who they were during their NXT days; expect NXT to continue to be successful and bring in a bunch of exciting talent that will continue to light up the business.
Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns
The remainder of the year is a big six months and a big test for the three former Shield members. All three men have gone into singles competitions, Dean Ambrose looks to be a huge talent whether he stays as a face or turns heel – which is what fans want. Seth Rollins has the Money in the Bank briefcase and who knows when he could decide to cash it in, it’s almost a guarantee he will become WWE World Heavyweight Champion. The same applies for Roman Reigns, now that Daniel Bryan is injured; a lot is expected from Reigns to go out there and dominate.
As fans it’s exciting to see what paths the trio go down after seeing them succeed as a group for almost two years.
