With the agreement in place to sell Luis Suarez to Barcelona, Liverpool now need to consider what to do with the £75 million.
Replacing Suarez's goals is no easy task and perhaps an impossible one. This season will see Liverpool make a long awaited return to the Champions League plus they have been handed a very difficult start to the Premier League with away trips to Manchester City and Tottenham in their second and third games.
Therefore a big name signing would appease the fans and hand the club a decent morale boost ahead of the forthcoming season. But who to sign?
Marco Reus needs no introduction, he is undoubtedly a world class attacking midfielder that would add to the Liverpool team. More so his attacking style would blend with the Brendan Rodgers footballing philosophy at Liverpool.
The Daily Express reported yesterday that Reus was 'furious' with Barcelona, for overlooking him in favour of Suarez and ruining a possible transfer to Manchester United. Reus had discouraged United previously from pursuing him in preference of a move to Spain.
Reus, who is 25 years old, has scored 30 times in 62 appearances for Borussia Dortmund and 7 times in 21 international appearances for Germany, would be a massive signing for Liverpool and be universally welcomed and applauded by the fans.
How much would Reus cost? Potentially the German, who signed for Dortmund from Borussia Monchengladbach for £15 million two years ago, would now be valued somewhere in the region of £40 million.
