Having already completed the high-profile signing of Chilean star Alexis Sanchez from Barcelona, Wenger is focused on improving other areas of his first-team squad.

Colombian goalkeeper David Ospina and France right-back Mathieu Debuchy have both been lined up for moves, leaving Kalou out in the cold.

The 28-year-old has attracted admiring glances from Merseyside rivals Everton and Liverpool, and has also been offered a £75,000-a-week contract to join Galatasaray in Turkey.

However, it's his desire to move back to England that is keeping him from committing his future, and hopes that his successful spell in France playing for Lille will be enough to earn him his transfer wish.
