With the departure of the brilliant but troubled striker Luis Suarez to Barcelona for a reported fee of £75 million, Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers possesses a considerable transfer fund as he looks to reshape his squad for a return to the Champions League.

Replacing Suarez, arguably the Premier League's finest player, will be no easy task.

Overcoming the loss of such a supremely talented player will prove to be immensely difficult, but with the right additions, the squad can be improved and a post-Suarez Liverpool can continue their recent revival.

Rodgers has already begun this process, with deals for Benfica's Lazar Markovic and Belgium striker Divock Origi seemingly imminent.

There is, however, no guarantee that the signing of numerous talented players will bring success.Just ask Tottenham.
