The 33-year-old France international was set to quit Old Trafford in favour of a €1.7m move to Turin, but he's now having second thoughts about joining the Serie 'A' champions and wants a short period of reflection.

Luke Shaw's arrival at Manchester United is expected to push Evra down the first-team pecking order this season, and Louis van Gaal has been searching for additional full-back cover to replace the vice-captain.

However, the player's change in stance would mean the Red Devils need not look any further for reinforcements in that area, should the veteran decide against a transfer to Italy.

Evra's motivation for a new experience and better chance of regular football is what originally prompted him to talk to Juventus just weeks after signing a one-year extension with Manchester United.

But, recent developments have left the prospective deal in doubt - it will be interesting to see how the situation plays out.
