Tottenham Hotspur have started their pre-season tour of North America, but will be without Sandro and Vlad Chiriches who have been left at home due to injury.
Brazilian international Sandro misses out due to a virus, while Romanian centre back Chiriches has a lower back complaint. They join Emmanuel Adebayor, who has a bout of Malaria, in remaining on English shores.
"Vlad Chiriches and Sandro have been withdrawn from the travelling party for the pre-season tour of the United States and Canada," the club's website said.
"Vlad has been complaining of stiffness in his lower back and is continuing to be assessed to determine the extent of the problem, while Sandro is recovering from a virus and has been kept behind on medical advice to avoid the risk of spreading the infection."
Spurs play three games while across the Atlantic, facing Seattle Sounders on Saturday evening (UK time), followed by a trip to Canada to play Jermain Defoe's Toronto FC on Thursday, and then Chicago Fire on Saturday week.
The side from White Hart Lane travelled to the United States last summer, but for some players who joined later in the transfer window, this will be a first time Stateside with the club.
“I’ve never been to America before, so I’ve a lot to see and I’m looking forward to it.," said midfielder Christian Eriksen.
"I’ve always wanted to go there, maybe on a holiday, but now I’m going with the team and I’ll see what it’s all about.”
A chance to impress
The three games gives new manager Mauricio Pochettino the opportunity to see his new charges in match action for the first time.
And, he will be looking to begin forming a new first team in his mind ahead of Spurs' first game of the new Premier League season, which takes place at West Ham on August 16th.
