According to the Daily Express Liverpool are seriously considering a bid for 23-year-old Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette.
Attentions turned following rejection
Liverpool's attentions have been drawn to the Lyon man, following failed bids for William Bony and Romelu Lukaku. Lacazette has enjoyed a breakthrough season with domestic side Lyon last term - netting 15 goals in 32 matches to ensure a fifth-pace finish in Ligue 1.
However Liverpool are fully aware that Lacazette is not a replacement for Suarez as a recognisable name that would appease the fans or in terms goals scoring stats.
Worth the money?
The french striker is untried in the Premier League, which constitutes a potential risky purchase considering Lyon would be looking for a fee of £16million.
Liverpool's capture of 20-year-old Bosnian winger Lazar Markovic for a significant £20million fee already represents a gamble for Brendan Rodgers, and the Northern Irishman will be keen to ensure squad harmony and positivity remains at an all-time high.
Earlier in the week Liverpool were baffled after rumours circulated the internet that they had bid £45million for German superstar Marco Reus of Borussia Dortmund, but it now seems they have been put to bed.
