The World Cup has come to a close and many of Bayern Munich superstars were on show at this year's tournament in Brazil.

Germany had a backbone of Bayern aces who dominated proceedings including Philipp Lahm, who this morning announced his international retirement at the tender age of 30.

Lahm was nothing short of sensational in South America and likely feels he has nothing left to prove on the international stage, a move Bayern fans will no doubt be grateful for as it allows him to concentrate on his club career.

Bastian Schweinsteiger was also superb and showed his full repertoire in all-action display against Argentina in the final, even taking a punch to the face from Sergio Aguero as he put his body on the line for German success.

Jerome Boateng was also excellent in that success and largely nullified Lionel Messi, Gonzalo Higuain and co with an assured performance, but Bayern's reach in the tournament goes far behind just German triumph.

With that in mind GMS has picked out five Bayern stars who deserve special praise, including one or two who wouldn't immediately fall under your radar.
