Following the arrival of LeBron James and Andrew Wiggins the Cleveland Cavaliers are all of a sudden looking like a team that could do some serious damage next season.
And LeBron, having returned from four successful years with the Miami Heat, seems in no mood to wait around for such success at his hometown franchise with reports today that he has reached out to Kevin Love directly in the hope of adding him to to the Cleveland roster.
"LeBron James has reached to tell Kevin Love of his desire to play together with the Cavaliers."
Love and James have played together before, helping Team USA to the Gold Medal during the London 2012 Olympic Games, and with the Minnesota Timberwolves star having intermitted that he wishes to leave for pastures new in recent months it looks like the Cavs have enlisted their recently acquired superstar in an attempt to beat rival NBA teams to his signature.
As the face of the NBA LeBron James is inevitably a powerful individual who holds great sway and his direct interaction with Love certainly gives the Cavaliers a chance of getting the perennial All-Star should the T'Wolves play ball.
Cavaliers face competition
The Cleveland Cavaliers may have an ace up their sleeve in LeBron James but they face stiff competition for Kevin Love in what is set up to be the big talking point during the remainder of the NBA offseason.
The Golden State Warriors have been in discussions with the Timberwolves for several weeks now, and now appear willing to offer up their promising shooting guard Klay Thompson to snag Love.
There has also been reported interest from the Boston Celtics, who hold a number of powerful draft picks that could be used in any trade deal, as well as several other franchises.
The Cavs situation
Before LeBron's big decision to return home the Cavaliers most hyped new arrival was Andrew Wiggins whom they selected as the number one overall pick of the 2014 NBA Draft. And the Cavs may well be willing to part with the young Canadian star in order to get a win-ready Kevin Love on board it seems.
As reported by several sources, Cleveland have told the Timberwolves that Wiggins may be available as part of a trade package in a move that certainly shows that the Cavs want to win sooner rather than later.
While LeBron James is doing his best to bring about a speedy conclusion all signs seems to point to this one having plenty left to run before a solution is found...
