Manchester United have opened negotiations with Ajax and Holland full-back Daley Blind, according to Spanish newspaper El Mundo Deportivo.
The Metro reports how the Dutchman - who can also play in midfield - caught the eye with a number of impressive performances as Louis Van Gaal's Dutch side upset the odds to secure a third-place finish at the World Cup.
This prompted rumoured interest from Liverpool and Barcelona, but it is believed that Manchester United, now managed by Van Gaal, have stolen a march on their rivals as they look to bring in top quality reinforcements.
It is also thought that Blind would favour the opportunity to once again work with the charismatic Van Gaal at Old Trafford, making a Premier League transfer all the more likely before the close of the summer window.
El Mundo Deportivo have reported that talks are underway and that the Red Devils are confident of sealing a deal in the coming days for less than Ajax's initial £20million asking price.
