Manchester United and Chelsea have been handed major boosts in their chase to land Juventus superstars Arturo Vidal and Paul Pogba as the Italian outfit are eyeing a move for Inter Milan star Fredy Guarin.
This has been reported by The Express, who have suggested that the Italian champions will line-up replacements for the pair before selling them on in this transfer window. It's uncertain, however, as to whether the Italian giants will sell both midfielders this summer, but United and Chelsea may well be encouraged by the latest developments in Italy.
Guarin, of course, is currently plying his trade at Juventus' rivals Inter Milan, but it appears that the Serie A champions are ready to land him in the near future. The same report has suggested that the 'Old Lady' attempted to sign the midfielder in the January transfer window as they attempted a swap deal involving Mirko Vucinic.
It remains to be seen as to whether Juve land the Inter man in the coming weeks, but Premier League boss' Louis Van Gaal and Jose Mourinho may keep a close eye on developments.
It's no surprise that Blues boss Jose Mourinho has been credited with interest in Pogba in recent time, with the midfielder recognised as one of the leading players in world football in his position.
The youngster, who has been valued at an incredible £60 million, has gone from strength-to-strength since departing Manchester United for the Serie A, but it remains to be seen as to whether Mourinho will step up his interest in the talented Frenchman. If Chelsea land the superstar, then they will have to battle the likes of Nemanja Matic and Cesc Fabregas for a first-team spot at the Bridge in the 2014/15 season.
Manchester United fans may still be ruing the day Pogba left, but the possibility of landing Vidal will certainly excite the majority. Much like Pogba, Vidal is seen as one of the top midfielders in world football, and would prove a major coup for new Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal.
The Red Devils are in desperate need of midfield improvement after the likes of Marouane Fellaini, Tom Cleverley and Michael Carrick all struggled to find form last term. And, with Carrick currently on the sidelines with injury, Van Gaal will be hoping to further add to his midfield, with the club having already landed Spanish ace Ander Herrera.
