Johnny Manziel is already a top-rated quarterback in the NFL despite not having taken a snap.
Well, at least in terms of jersey sales.
Manziel, much-maligned for his off-field behavior since his playing days at Texas A&M, has the top selling jersey on NFLShop.com for the period between April 1 to July 17.
Manziel's No. 2 jersey sales top those of Russell Wilson, Tom Brady, and Petyon Manning, among others.
The league did not say how many Manziel jerseys - priced at $99.95 each - sold during the period.
Fighting for a starting spot
Not bad for someone who will enter training camp this week as the backup quarterback on the depth chart to Brian Hoyer.
Also not bad considering that Manziel was drafted in the first round on May 8, more than one month after the beginning of the sales cycle stated previously.
Other stars on the list
Manziel is followed on the NFLShop.com list by three quarterbacks: Wilson, San Francisco's Colin Kaepernick and Manning.
Seattle cornerback Richard Sherman is fifth, followed by St. Louis rookie Michael Sam, who will be the league's first openly gay player if he makes the final 53-man roster.
Brady is seventh on the list, followed by New Orleans quarterback Drew Brees.
Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rogers is ninth on the list, followed by the infamous Seattle Seahawks "12th fan" jersey, a tribute to the team's fan base that attends home games.
Other rookie jerseys are selling well too. Minnesota Vikings rookie quarterback Teddy Bridgewater is No. 13 on the list, and the top overall pick, Houston OLB Jadeveon Clowney, ranks No. 16.
