Ray Rice given lenient 2 game suspension by NFL

According to reports emerging today from Rand Getlin of Yahoo Sports, Ray Rice will apparently only have to serve a two-game suspension for dragging the unconscious body of his then-fiance out of a hotel elevator.

The news will come as a great relief to the Baltimore Ravens but a massive slap in the face for domestic abuse campaigners who will be appalled by the NFL’s leniency.

The running back did not face any charges as Janay Palmer, now his wife, refused to press charges despite video emerging for everyone to see of her being dragged out of the lift.

Rice and his wife actually held a press conference last month in an attempt to show some sort of solidarity.

It descended into a farce of PR however, when Palmer actually apologized for her role in the incident that left her unconsciousness. Yes, that actually happened.

A lot of people will be further annoyed at the meagre suspension Rice faces.

When you compare his two game ban to the four game suspension players face for taking Aderall - a drug to combat ADHD - you really have to question where NFL commissioner Roger Goodell’s priorities lie.
