Manchester United have been boosted in their alleged pursuit of Angel di Maria after the Real Madrid winger issued a 'come and get me plea' to his Premier League suitors.
The Daily Star on Sunday reports how the Argentina international has been heavily linked with a move away from the Santiago Bernabeu, following the summer arrivals of James Rodriguez and Toni Kroos.
Di Maria no longer feels that he's an important part of Carlo Ancelotti's squad, with his role set to be overshadowed by the aforementioned Colombian and German stars, as well as the attacking triumvirate of Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale.
A move to Paris Saint-Germain had been mooted for the 26-year-old, but after the Ligue 1 champions quibbled over a fee Di Maria is now believed to favour a move to Old Trafford over Parc des Princes.
PSG have tried to negotiate a loan deal for the South American wide-man, however that isn't favourable to Real Madrid, who would prefer to recoup some of the money they've already splashed out this transfer window.
Man United move imminent?
The impasse in talks paves way for Manchester United to swoop in for Di Maria, and they are set to firm up their interest as soon as new Red Devils boss Louis van Gaal gives the go-ahead.
According to reports, the player is understood to have rushed an SOS halfway across the world to Manchester United's pre-season training camp in North America, in the hope it will speed up the process of formally completing his summer transfer.
