The transfer market is full into gear now, with the Premier League’s elite all having already made significant moves to reinforce their respective squads. And it may well be that this ends as the most sizeable window in history.
Chelsea were the fastest movers, with Cesc Fabregas tied up before the start of the World Cup, while Diego Costa and Filipe Luis have followed him from La Liga. Didier Drogba, meanwhile, has returned on a free transfer.
Liverpool were not far behind, with Rickie Lambert, Adam Lallana, Emre Can and Lazar Markovic all through the door already, while Dejan Lovren and Divock Origi could follow in the coming days. There has, of course, also been Luis Suarez’s departure from Anfield.
Manchester United, meanwhile, are expected to follow up the acquisitions of Luke Shaw and Ander Herrera with at least two more signings, with Louis van Gaal reported to be informed that he can break the club’s transfer record if he sees fit.
Arsenal have been busy, too - Alexis Sanchez, Mathieu Debuchy and David Ospina having all been signed, while Calum Chambers could follow. Arsene Wenger has, in fact, spent more than Manchester City rival Manuel Pellegrini.
But what other transfers are on the cards? Here’s what the papers say this Sunday…
