After countless months of speculation the WWE finally confirmed that they have signed Fergal Devitt to their NXT division, reports The Independent.
If you're a big independent wrestling fan then you will know Fergal Devitt as Prince Devitt and he brings a lot of experience and skill to the table, especially in the already-impressive NXT division which boasts so much talent in the first place, his addition is a massive one which will be welcomed by all wrestling fans.
The 33 year old from Bray, County Wicklow in Ireland has made a big name for himself on the independent scene, most notably with New Japan Pro Wrestling where he is a three time IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion.
His decorated career has seen him wrestle for many wrestling promotions, NWA UK Hammerlock in Kent, K-DOJO in Japan as well as CMLL in Mexico City; the world’s oldest professional wrestling promotion have all seen Prince Devitt perform inside their rings and stun the fans with his unique look and style.

After the announcement on Twitter; Devitt was also quick to share his joy at signing for the company, mentioning it was something he was looking forward to ever since he was a child and as expected, a dream come true.
He also doesn’t consider himself as the finished product, he will have to slow down his style to fit in to the WWE but I am positive it won’t be an issue for Devitt who wows crowd everywhere he goes; if it’s not his wrestling ability it’s the incredible body paint.
It’s not just independent fans who are excited, previous and current talents have all had their say, the likes of Frankie Kazarian and Tommy Dreamer have heaped praise on Devitt whilst fellow NXT superstar Sami Zayn also tweeted his support, telling Devitt it’s now time to take over and I have no doubt that they will.
Devitt has already reported to the WWE Performance Center and will begin work immediately, and his signing proves that the future is bright in the WWE as they continue to sign exciting talent; paving the way for exciting matches in the near future. Adrian Neville, Sami Zayn and even KENTA down the line are match ups we should be excited for.
It’s unclear how Devitt will be used in the WWE, we already know that KENTA will most likely keep his name and perhaps change his move set. But based on the announcement by the WWE it looks as if Devitt will compete as Fergal Devitt and not Prince, the name he has been using for years. Along with this it remains to be seen whether WWE and NXT fans will be treated to his visually impressive body art, I can see him using body paint but he tends to paint himself up as Marvel characters such as Venom, which I doubt the WWE will allow him to do.
Regardless of what changes are to be made, it certainly is an exciting time for regular NXT viewers.
Next stop, Kevin Steen.
