With Liverpool looking to recruit some fire-power to compensate for the loss of star forward Luis Suarez to Barcelona, the Anfield club began making plans to add to their forward options.
They seemed set to complete the £8.5m signing of Queens Park Rangers striker Loic Remy, who's attributes seemed a perfect fit, only for the deal to collapse for reasons yet to be confirmed.
With the £75m transfer fund from the Suarez deal in the kitty, boss Brendan Rodgers has finances available to bring in a top class forward to add to the likes of Daniel Sturridge, Rickie Lambert and Fabio Borini.
