Kevin Durant is the reigning Most Valuable player of the NBA and knows exactly the type of work and sacrifice that is required to be awarded with such prestigious honours.

When the Thunder superstar took to the stage in May, he delivered a powerful and moving speech to everyone gathered after being awarded the MVP, it was a climatic journey of excellence that allowed Durant to stand above his peers and thank everyone who helped him realise a dream.

Durant paid homage to his foundation of strength, his mother. He also thanked his coaches and teammates for their contributions, the 25-year-old small forward can call on his experiences as to what it takes to win the MVP accolade in the NBA, and he also knows who's gunning for it next.

His teammates weren't the only people who received a meaningful message that week, New Orleans forward Anthony Davis reached out to Durant to congratulate him on the award and also received a startling response.

The recently crowned MVP responded in a very encouraging manner, believing that Davis was 'next in line', he said: "You on your way to get it", the words initially stunning Davis.

Davis, who was a western Conference All-Star teammate of Durant spoke about his surprise: "It was shocking, For a guy who knows what it takes to win an MVP award, telling me that I’m on my way, it means he sees something in me. That means a lot, especially from one of the best players in the league right now, if not the best. It just meant a lot. It made me want to work even harder.”

The pair are currently training with the US Men's National basketball team and both players can see up close the spectacular talent each possess, Davis has always been recognised as holding incredible potential and his play last season for the Hornets made everyone stand up and notice the superstar awaiting to emerge.

Durant was asked about his comments on Davis after US practice and responded: "I know how good he’s going to be, I know how good he is now, but I know how good he’s going to be. He’s an MVP-caliber player. So he’s next. He’s next in line – a guy that has grown so much in just a year. I’m excited to see what he does from here. He’s definitely on pace.”

The four time scoring champion expressed a belief that Davis will be scary good in the NBA as he continues to bulk up and add muscle to his already incredible 6 ft 10, 238 pound frame.

Durant may have just given us all the biggest hint for the future, the leagues dominant player may be located in New Orleans, so be ready for Anthony Davis.
