With new signings KENTA and Fergal Devitt already in the bag, it looks as if the WWE will waste no time in bringing in another huge addition in the form of independent superstar; Kevin Steen.
Wrestling fans were left speechless when they realised the WWE actually managed to sign Japanese sensation KENTA to their NXT division and they continued it with the signing of Fergal Devitt earlier in the week; with not much left to prove it seems as if Steen is next in line for a WWE contract.
Although the company hasn’t actually confirmed the signing, right now it simply looks like the contract needs to be signed subject to him passing the medicals. Now although it hasn’t been confirmed as of yet, Monday Night Raw commentator Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler strongly hinted that Kevin Steen will make the jump very soon.
As you can see in the video below, Jerry Lawler is hyping up a match between himself and Kevin Steen for the Northeast Under The Starts 3 event, in a Piledriver match.
He builds up Kevin Steen’s reputation in the video, how he is one of the best talents in the world today and the name he has made for himself in Ring of Honor, being one of the most well known stars in the world even though he hasn’t stepped foot inside a WWE ring.
He mentions his reputation on social media which his followers will be aware of; his responses and at times brutal honesty is something to be entertained by. With social media playing an integral role in sports entertainment Kevin Steen uses his social media accounts to its potential, for example his response to long-time rival and current NXT superstar Sami Zayn was perfect.
But they key point to pick up on is where Jerry Lawler hyped up the fact that this is Kevin Steen’s last match here before he moves on to the ‘big time’. What else could the big time be? He’s already done everything that needs to be done in Ring of Honor, in all of independent wrestling for that matter. I highly doubt big time refers to TNA Impact, where their current situation means they might not even be around for much longer.

The biggest wrestling company in the world is the WWE and that is where Kevin Steen should be performing, the man has it all. He has the look of someone who has worked his entire life doing what he loves, he isn’t built like an action figure like Adrian Neville, he isn't someone who chose to play football first and failed, this is what he loves and he’s more talented than the majority of the main roster; whether it’s inside the ring or on a microphone. He never fails to entertain.
With his final match taking on place on August 2, wrestling fans will be glued to social media to see when the announcement regarding Kevin Steen signing with the WWE will be made.Another positive addition to the NXT roster continues to show the dedication the WWE are showing as they look to the future, expect some incredible matches in the near future and if there was one I’d recommend to all wrestling fans, a potential yet likely feud with Sami Zayn is definitely one to keep an eye on.
