Wayne Rooney expressed his delight on Facebook as Manchester United continued their winning start under new manager Louis Van Gaal when they edged Italian giants Inter Milan on penalties at the FedEx field in Washington DC.
It might only be pre-season, however Van Gaal will be pleased with what he has seen following wins over LA Galaxy, Roma and now Inter, with several players looking to impress the new manager with encouraging performances.
The game finished goalless after 90 minutes with United eventually winning 5-3 on penalties after Inter Milan's Marco Andreolli had hit the crossbar.
New signing Luke Shaw and Wilfried Zaha, both got some game time, the latter impressing in an attacking role upfront.
Former United defender, Nemanja Vidic, now with Inter, came up against his old team keeping Zaha out with a crucial challenge and although United enjoyed much of the ball in the first half they couldn't create any clear-cut chances, with Phil Jones, Wayne Rooney and Juan Mata having the best of the opportunities during the first 45 minutes.
Van Gaal made eight changes for the second half, with Cleverley, Nani and Kagawa all coming close to opening the scoring, while the ref also denied two clear-cut penalty shouts, sending the game to penalties.
The early signs for United are encouraging and Van Gaal's 4-5-2 formation, that has proved so successful for him over the years seems to be suiting United's style of play, especially Mata and Rooney.

Rooney has been particularly impressive and his manager will be under know illusions about the importance of his contribution this season if they want the get some silverware back to Old Trafford.
After the match Rooney took to Facebook expressing his delight at keeping their winning start intact.
"Good challenge against Inter Milan yesterday and we kept our winning streak going even if it was on penalties. It was nice to see Vida again and wish him good luck for the upcoming season!"
The win for United edges them a step closer to a potential International Champions Cup final against Premier League rivals Manchester City.
United begin their Premier League campaign at home to Swansea on the 16th August.
