Antoine Griezmann has recently signed a six-year contract with Los Colchoneros, brining him to the Vincente Calderon ahead of next season. The deal was announced on Atletico Madrid's official website and their official twitter account.
Madrid see him as a replacement for Spaniard David Villa, who was brought to the MLS however he has been sent out on loan.
Griezmann had been on the radar of other top sides for a while, including Arsenal. The Frenchman found the net 16 times in 46 outings last season, and was impressive in the striker and winger role.
He had a decent campaign in Brazil, having a hand in one of the goals for France in the last 16, however that shot was ruled as an own goal.
Diego Simeone rebuilds
Atletico needed long-term replacements for both Costa and Villa, and they have covered up one of two holes with gaining Griezmann's signature.
There has been speculation linking Fernando Torres with a move back to the red half of Madrid, and these rumours were further fuelled after it was learned that Jose Mourinho will have to axe at least one foreign player to compete in competitions next season.
Chelsea are desperate to get rid of Torres, however if Atletico do decide to buy him, they will have to pay him his massive £175k p/w wages.
Griezmann is already used to Spain and La Liga after playing for Real Sociedad last season, and will fit nicely into Diego Simeone's system.
