Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku has completed a move to Everton for a reported fee of £28million, according to BBC Sport.
Reports of Lukaku’s departure from Chelsea grew after the 21-year-old posted a tweet through his official Twitter account hinting that he is ready for the next challenge in his career.
The Belgian striker spent all of last season at Everton where he had a fantastic season with the Merseyside side. Lukaku scored 15 goals in 31 appearances to help Everton to fifth place in the league table and set a club record of 72 Premier League points.
Sought after commodity
Lukaku had been a highly sought after striker in the transfer window when his parent club Chelsea signed Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa and Didier Drogba from Galatasaray which meant that either Lukaku or Fernando Torres could leave the club. Bundesliga side Wolfsburg and Serie A champions Juventus where reported to be interested in starlet as well.
Lukaku has become the club's record signing, exceeding the £15million fee Everton paid for his Belgian teammate Marouane Fellaini in 2008.
Chelsea signed Lukaku from Belgium side Anderlecht in 2011 for £10million, however he has only appeared for Chelsea on 10 occasions. He infamously missed the last penalty for the Blues in the Euro Super Cup against Bayern Munich in 2013.
Lukaku last term
He was loaned out to West Brom for the entire 2012/13 Premier League season where he scored 17 goals in 31 appearances for the Baggies. He famously scored a hat-trick on the last game of the season against then champions Manchester United in Sir Alex Ferguson's final game as the club's manager.
