The eyes of the footballing world remain fixed on Manchester United, with new boss Louis Van Gaal hoping to restore the faith of fans after such a humiliating period last term under David Moyes.
When you consider Moyes' failure to bring in an effective signing back last term, it's quite clear what challenges lie ahead for Louis Van Gaal; make some proper signings, and so far he hasn't done a bad job.
However with the departures of Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand, Manchester United are very short of defenders, with Louis Van Gaal already stating himself that he needs more options at the back.
The man to solve his problem could well be Liverpool's Daniel Agger. The 29-year-old Dane would offer United real experience at the back and over the past eight years he's really proved himself as a real stalwart whenever he played.
And things may look good for United if they were to persue the signing, with the arrival of Southampton's Dejan Lovren expected to push Agger further towards the exit at Anfield - though Barcelona are also rumoured to be interested in Liverpool's great Dane.
Agger once ruled the roost at Liverpool, however last season appeared on the fringes of the squad, with Martin Skrtel along with Mamadou Sakho forming what was seem as a formidable partnership with Agger not getting a look-in. You'd think the Agger will be soon looking to leave.
The Dane, who has played 232 times during his time at Anfield, may cost United quite a bit of cash as it seems Liverpool obviously won't want to get rid of their vice-captain on the cheap. Although, United chief-executive Ed Woodward has said United have a lot to spend, so they could definitely afford Agger.
In one of my previous articles I spoke about how Manchester United could be looking at Arsenal's Thomas Vermaelen, however it would be Agger who'd be the better signing when considering all attributes.
Perhaps they could try to sign both in a new make-shift defence? The pair could easily partner Phil Jones in a formation including three centre backs.
