Southampton manager Ronald Koeman is targeting another three signings, as he starts to flex his financial muscle in the transfer market.
According to the Daily Mirror, Southampton are closing in on the signings of Marcos Rojo from Sporting and Saphir Taider from Inter Milan. They are also in the race for Parma winger Jonathan Biabiany.
The signings would be a huge boost to the St. Mary's faithful and would reassure fans that the recent promise regarding the strengthening of the squad will be kept.
The Marcos Rojo signing would be the biggest coup of the three, with his recent eye-catching performances for Argentina at the World Cup making him very sought after.
His versatility is sure to interest Koeman, with the ability to play at centre-back or left-back an added string to his bow.
It is reported that Southampton have offered £10million for Rojo, but it remains to be seen if Sporting are ready to part with their star defender for what seems a bargain price.
Taider and Osvaldo
The Saphir Taider deal seems to have come from nowhere, but if reports are correct, the signing is part of a deal that would take Southampton bad-boy Dani Osvaldo to the San Siro.
With his future certainly lying away from the South Coast, it seems the Saints have opted to trade Osvaldo for Taider, although it seems as loan deals for the time being.
Taider was part of the impressive Algerian squad at this summer's World Cup and would give Koeman another option in his already plentiful midfield, whilst removing a big earner from the wage bill in Osvaldo at the same time.
Jonathan Biabiany came through the youth ranks at Inter Milan and currently plys his trade with another Seria A club, at Parma.
The former French under-21 international is known mainly for his mazy dribbling and burst of pace, something that Southampton were lacking in last season, so it is no wonder that Koeman has eyed Biabiany as a potential recruit.
There is competition for his signature though, with West Bromwich Albion also chasing the winger, and with his contract being extended in February until 2018, time will tell whether either club will match his valuation.
Southampton may choose to pursue other options if they cannot manage a deal, with a move for Norwich City winger Nathan Redmond still in the offing.
