Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani has seemingly put an end to speculation that he could be joining Manchester United this summer, by insisting that he will remain with the Ligue 1 giants next season.
The former Napoli ace is said to be unhappy in Paris at having to play second fiddle to Zlatan Ibrahimovic, and is seeking a move to the Premier League.
Manchester United appeared to be leading the race for his signature, while Chelsea have also been linked, with reports suggesting that either side would have to cough up around £60 million to get the deal done.
However Cavani insists he has no plans to leave PSG this summer, and is happy to remain where he is for the foreseeable future. "I am sure I am staying, why would I not be?" he said. "I am happy in Paris, under contract to PSG and calm. I feel good here."
However the striker offered perhaps a glimmer of hope for Manchester United by suggesting that he may be sold. Previous reports have suggested that PSG may let him leave in order to finance a swoop for Angel di Maria from Real Madrid.
"As I have already said, it does not only depend on the player," he admitted.
So far Manchester United have landed Luke Shaw and Ander Herrera, but are expected to sign a handful of new players before the end of the transfer window.
