Following Vidic out of the exit door has also been the club’s vice-captain Patrice Evra, who left for Juventus, while sometimes stand in skipper Rio Ferdinand has too departed, securing a free transfer to Queens Park Rangers.

Louis van Gaal is the man tasked with making the decision and, as of yet, has not really given much away as to his eventual choice, with the manager having rotated the armband for the three games in which he has been in charge.
