Ex-Chelsea goalkeeper Mark Bosnich has insisted that Blues star Petr Cech will 'have to leave' the club this summer if he's only able to occupy a position on the bench, reports talkSPORT.
Cech is expected to be forced down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge next season, with Thibaut Courtois set to become the club's No.1 after an impressive stint at La Liga champions Atletico Madrid.
And Bosnich has insisted that it will prove difficult for Cech next term, and the 'keeper will eventually have to leave the club behind. Speaking to Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show, Bosnich said: “Petr Cech has been fantastic in the ten years he’s been at Chelsea. It’s very difficult, for a man of his age, not to be playing though.
“Courtois is probably the best young goalkeeper in the world at the moment.
“Cech is 32 years of age, he won’t be happy just being sat on the bench. He’ll have to leave.”
It will certainly be some battle for the No.1 spot at Chelsea next term, with Petr Cech having proved to be one of the finest ever Premier League goalkeepers and Courtois now regarded as one of the finest young talents in world football.
With Chelsea involved in Europe once again, both 'keepers will be hoping to play key roles in the 2014/15 campaign, whilst veteran Mark Schwarzer will also be hoping to feature.
High profile names
And, if Cech does depart Chelsea in the near future, then he will follow a whole host of top names out the Stamford Bridge exit gates following the departures of Frank Lampard, Ashley Cole and David Luiz this summer.
Jose Mourinho also shipped Juan Mata out of the club in January after the Spanish international signed for Manchester United. The Blues boss, then, is certainly putting his own stamp on the Blues team ahead of the new season.
A number of stars have also arrived at the club in recent time, with the likes of Cesc Fabregas, Diego Costa, Didier Drogba and Filipe Luis all having joined the club. Chelsea fans will certainly be excited ahead of the new season, but won't want to see Cech leave the club just yet.
