Manchester United: 5 players who should be sold now (1)

First the initial burst of action, and then nothing. Rio Ferdinand, Nemanja Vidic, Patrice Evra, Alexander Buttner all gone within the space of a few weeks and then silence. The Manchester United squad overhaul began with a bang, but since then it's been pretty silent.

It wouldn't be much of a surprise if there were a handful of Manchester United squad players struggling to sleep, fretting over their futures.

It's been a few weeks since Louis van Gaal arrived at Old Trafford after the World Cup. He insisted that he would give players a chance to prove their worth and has seen them in action up close on their pre-season tour to America; and if this morning papers are to be believed then he is ready to make his move and cut those players he believes aren't quite up to scratch.

It has been suggested that there are up to 12 Manchester United players dicing with danger now that Van Gaal is on the scene, and with plenty of new arrivals expected at Old Trafford this summer, it is likely that the former Bayern Munich boss won't hold back.

Indeed, we reckon that five current Manchester United players will be sold before the close of the current transfer window.
