Premier League side Southampton are ready to bring some quality talent to St. Mary’s after seeing as many as five key members of their squad leave this summer.
Rickie Lambert, Adam Lallana and Dejan Lovren have all left for Liverpool while Calum Chambers and Luke Shaw have joined Arsenal and Manchester United respectively.
The Saints have garnered around £90 million through these sales and are now ready to splash the cash for some major signings in the coming days.
Manager Ronald Koeman is interested in bringing in Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez and one of either Ashley Young or Wilfried Zaha, according to The Daily Mail.
All three players are on the fringes of the Red Devils' squad and could be asked to find new clubs once Manchester United complete their pre-season tour of the United States.
Hernandez has been linked with several clubs across Europe in recent weeks, while rumours regarding Young have been doing rounds since last summer.
Zaha has failed to make any impact in Manchester United colours so far, but is seemingly willing to adapt his game to suit Van Gaal's style of play.
Zaha to leave?
Zaha could be the first to be shown the door at Old Trafford as he has already agreed terms with Queens Park Rangers, West Ham and Crystal Palace, according to Metro. Southampton will have to move quickly if they want to land the 21-year-old, therefore.
It remains to be seen who will be on Van Gaal’s transfer list leading the exodus and if Southampton can get their preferred targets before the transfer window closes at the end of the month.
