Dani Alves, Barcelona's Brazilian right-back, seems surplus to requirements at the Camp Nou and has been linked with moves to PSG all summer; but Liverpool could swoop a deal for the 31-year-old defender.
Liverpool's need for a right-back
There's no question in the matter: Liverpool need a right back. Deals for Atletico Madrid's Javi Manquillo and Sevilla left back Alberto Moreno are forever on-going. But even if the transfers of the two youngsters were completed prior to any Alves activity, Liverpool shouldn't hesitate in moving for the experienced Brazilian.
Alves suited to Liverpool
With endless Champions League appearances Alves could benefit the club massively next season. With Barcelona under going a monumental transition they seem to be flogging the older members of the squad; so he could well be available on the cheap. With the club's transfer embargo starting next season, they seem to be buying in advance.
Fiorentina and Columbia midfielder Juan Cuadrado has been suggested as a potential replacement for Alves, along with numerous other right-backs being endlessly linked with moves; it seems his time is up.
Suarez and Mascherano
Luis Suarez and Javier Mascherano would play an important role in persuading Alves of what a club Liverpool is. So could Reds fans find justice and forgiveness for the former Anfield heroes if they convince the Brazil star to move?
With Alves quality still unquestionable, regardless of his age, his experience could prove the most worthy attribute of his in a possible move. With Liverpool lacking Champions League pedigree next season they will want to add to the squad as it'll be a long awaited return after a five year absence.
It's early doors in this transfer window, but can Liverpool fans rely on Suarez and Mascherano to get the job done? Time will tell.
