Marcio is not exactly a name most people will be familiar with outside of the professional futsal faithful in Brazil, but expect him to get a whole lot more famous in the next few days as his sensational piece of skill in a recent match goes viral worldwide.

GMS won't patronise you by going into what futsal is and we expect you are aware that this particular format of the beautiful game gives rise to some outrageous skills - so we don't do so lightly when asking: is this the greatest futsal goal ever scored?

According to the Mirror, Marcio is a 33-year-old forward who plies his trade for Marechal Rondon in Brazil and he delighted fans, teammates and the football gods with his goal against Jaraguá on Monday evening.

Genius improvisation

He was free down the left of the pitch when his goalkeeper collected the ball; a quick throwout by his alert teammate created a great deal of space but a quick look saw the opposition number one creeping off his line to narrow any angle.

What followed can only be described as a first-time, back heel, half-volley lob. Well, perhaps not ONLY as that, but it is the best GMS can do when trying to describe it.

Why not just watch it yourselves...

Wow. GMS don't know about you, but that is making us feel very warm and fuzzy inside.
