Atletico Madrid Diego Simeone is planning a move for Chelsea attacker Andre Schurrle.
And to raise the funds to make an enticing offer to Chelsea, the Atleti boss is prepared to sacrifice at least two of his first-team squad members. The three possible names on the transfer list are Cristian Rodriguez, Josuha Guilavogui and Emiliano Insua.
Three out, one in?
The report suggests Rodriguez could be off to an unnamed English Premier League club, while Guilavogui, who spent a period of last season on loan at St Etienne in France, has been linked to Bundesliga club Wolfsburg.
Insua meanwhile, could be about to join Benfica.
Having lost Diego Costa and Filipe Luis to Chelsea this summer, Simeone is keen to focus on incoming transfers with the September transfer deadline looming.
Other transfer options
He's bought in Mario Mandzukic from Bayern Munich to replace Costa, and has been linked with Manchester United duo Javier Hernandez and Shinji Kagawa. A versatile attacking midfielder looks to be a priority for Simeone, who values Schurrle's ability to play across the forward line.
The Germany international played an important supplementary role for his country as they won the World Cup in Brazil this summer. The Stamford Bridge star scored three goals in the tournament, including two in the semi-final win over Brazil.
He also provided the assist for Mario Gotze in extra time as Germany beat Argentina 1-0 in the World Cup final.
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has plenty of attacking options as the Premier League season nears, with Schurrle expected to compete with the likes of Eden Hazard, Oscar, Mohamed Salah and Willian for a starting place.
Chelsea face Burnley in their first game of the Premier League season on Monday 18th August.
