James Rodriguez received a warm reception from Real Madrid supporters following his £63 million transfer from AS Monaco earlier this summer, but the same can't be said for his new team-mates - in particular Sergio Ramos - who wasted little time in embarrassing the latest marquee signing during a recent training session.

The Spain international made it abundantly clear that the Colombian must earn his stripes at the Santiago Bernabeu, and put the World Cup star in his place with a brilliantly executed nutmeg which was caught on camera in the middle of a keep-ball drill.

Sergio Ramos showboat

Ramos is renowned for his no-nonsense approach to defending but also possesses a supreme level of skill for a centre-back, and showcased his talent in sublime fashion with a neat training ground trick which showed up Rodriguez's shortcomings.

The 23-year-old was one of the star performers at this summer's finals in South America, winning the Golden Boot award after netting six goals to help Jose Pekerman's side to the quarter-finals before being knocked out by host nation Brazil in the last eight.

He already had a huge reputation after moving to Stade Louis II from Porto in a mouthwatering €45 million deal last summer, and impressed in Ligue 1 alongside compatriot Radamel Falcao as the Principality finished runners up behind Paris Saint-Germain.

Too good to turn down

However, the French club could not turn down the big-money offer made by Real Madrid, prompting Rodriguez's switch to the Spanish capital last month, following Toni Kroos as Carlo Ancelotti's second major summer signing.

Ancelotti's players were training at the club's Valdebebas HQ as they step up their preparations for the 2014/15 campaign, having welcomed back all the squad members that had been given extra time off following this summer's showpiece tournament in Brazil.

Last year's Champions League final triumph already seems like a distant memory for Real Madrid, as the club embark on a new challenge of reclaiming the Primeira Division title from local rivals Atletico Madrid, who successfully won La Liga in 2013/14.
