The best of MLS are in action tonight as the league’s annual All-Star game takes place in Portland, Oregon.
Reigning Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich provide the opposition as they complete their United States preseason tour.
The MLS roster includes a mixture of foreign imports such as Thierry Henry, Tim Cahill, Bradley Wright Phillips and Liam Ridgewell as well as several members of the US World Cup team that proved so successful out in Brazil under the captaincy of Clint Dempsey.
Veteran star 32-year-old Landon Donovan of the Los Angeles Galaxy is also in line to make a record 14th All-Star appearance.
At the other end of the spectrum US youngster Julian Green is set to feature for Bayern Munich.
Green was a surprise selection for Jurgen Klinsmann's USMNT World Cup roster having not made a competitive appearance for Bayern. But the starlet was quick to impress on the international stage, grabbing what proved to be a consolation goal in the US' 2-1 defeat to Belgium in the second round phase.
And Bayern Munich's Spanish coach Pep Guardiola admitted earlier this week that the All-Star game was the ideal opportunity for the 19-year-old Green to gain valuable experience.
The game itself kicks of at 9 PM Eastern Time at Providence Park - home of the Portland Timbers - and the MLS will hope to improve on last year’s result which saw them lose out in a 3-1 defeat to Italian side Roma.
